As part of the plan for our LPS second graders to transition to LES next year, Liberty Elementary staff are coming to LPS each month for the remainder of the year. The purpose of the visits is to get to know their future students, make connections with them, and share a fun activity that will help the students get excited for third grade. Today, principal Dr. Haynes and teachers Mrs. Vess and Ms. VanGieson introduced themselves to our students and decorated cookies with them! What a “sweet” start to their journey as Liberty Labs next year! We look forward to connecting with LES more in the coming months! #oneLiberty

This week is National School Counseling Week, and we cannot let this week pass by without celebrating our very own School Counselor, Mrs. Tina Kelly! LPS is blessed with the best- we are so thankful for all Mrs. Kelly does for our students, staff, and families! Mrs. Kelly, thank you (and Chewie!) for taking such good care of our Wolfpack!

Kindness is in the air this February at LPS! At least once a quarter, our seven PACKs contribute to a service project in order to spread kindness around our community. This month, we are collecting cards to give to various community groups to show our appreciation for all they do for our school and the town of Liberty. Check out the flyer linked below to see which group your PACK will show appreciation for - and start making your cards! Cards will be collected from now until Thursday, February 17th. Let's spread kindness around our community!

Good Evening from LPS! The district has announced an digital learning day for tomorrow, January 21, due to black ice. Teachers will post assignments and office hours on Schoology. We will miss our PACK but look forward to being back together on Monday!

LPS will be on a 2 hour delay on Thursday, January 20. No buses on icy roads.
School will start at 9:50 with arrival beginning at 9:20 in the morning. We will not have morning PreK classes. Pups Academy will also operate on a 2 hour delay with students arriving no earlier than 9:20. Afternoon PreK classes will have their normal start time. We will not serve breakfast, so please be sure students eat before arriving to school. Lunch will be served as usual. We look forward to seeing our PACK tomorrow morning!

The School District of Pickens County (SDPC) will open on a two-hour delay on Thursday, January 20, 2022, due to the continued danger of ice on shaded areas and on secondary roads. The two-hour delay gives additional time for ice to melt off the roads and will improve visibility for drivers.
-- Morning 3K and 4K classes are canceled. PM classes operate on a normal schedule.
-- No Buses on Icy Roads
-- High school students (including Career Center) should check their Schoology messages for adjusted class times and bell schedules.

Wednesday, January 19, 2022 will be a Digital Learning Day for the School District of Pickens County due to the continued danger of icy roads.
Students will not attend school in-person.
While there are areas in our county that have improved, there are many shaded areas that continue to have noticeable ice and black ice on roads. Temperatures are expected to drop again tonight and are not predicted to rise above freezing until after 9:00 am. Even with a delay, transportation would have to occur on the roads prior to this time.

Tuesday will be a digital learning day due to icy roads. Teachers will post office hours and assignments to Schoology on Tuesday morning. Students have 5 days to complete assignments. I hope everyone has enjoyed the snow!

Tuesday, January 18, 2022 will be a Digital Learning Day for the School District of Pickens County due to icy roads. Students will not attend school in-person.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens tonight following the snow, sleet, freezing rain from yesterday. Noticeable ice and black ice on roads throughout the county is a serious concern tomorrow morning.
We will make a decision regarding school for Wednesday (January 19, 2022) on Tuesday evening.
